NSXPO 2003
for me began on Tuesday, October 7, 2003.
The event actually
started
the day
after, but I
wanted to get
an early start up so as not to miss any of the planned festivities.
A number of Southern California NSXers planned on cruising up the coast along
Highway 1 (PCH) Tuesday. Most of those traveling in the group were
coming from Orange County and Los Angeles County cities. Being that
I was at least 90 minutes further south, and not being much of an early riser,
I decided to travel up with two other San Diego NSXers,
Conrad (POWERED
by HONDA) and Kenny (k2). We left at about 8:30 in the morning and
ventured north.

We
had to make a quick stop in Laguna Niguel where Kenny needed to "pick up"
his track event tech inspection. Ramon of Niguel Motors was able to
supply the required paperwork.

Traveling
through Los Angeles proved to be quite hazardous. After taking a "mild"
detour for an early lunch, I hit a rather large piece of what appeared to
be fiberglass while entering the State 118 to I-5N interchange. Whatever
it was that I hit, it left a rather large scratch and indentation across
my front nose piece and Wings West Chin spoiler.
I wasn't going to let that incident
bring me down at the beginning of my first NSXPO. Heck, iIf anything,
NSXPO 2003 turned out to be a great place to get NSX body ideas.

After that, the rest of the day was rather mild and
uneventful.
We headed north via the I-5 Grapevine
and then made a quick stop at Lost Hills in the Central Valley for Kenny
to get a quick bite to eat. Eventually, we cut across to the 101 via
Gilroy, "the Garlic Capitol of the World", narrowly missing an encounter
with highway troopers.
Kenny eventually broke off for an over
night stay in Fremont. I made a similar stay in San Jose for Tuesday
night. Meanwhile, Conrad took off north straight for the Embassy Suites
in San Rafael.

Don't bother this guy while he's eating.

Kenny's

makes a great
garlic catcher.
